Mixed Bead Bags has been in business since 2009, but owner Esma Erdic's start in the bead industry began in 1998 when she became an assembler for haute couture jewellery designers Erickson Beamon. Working for the high-end jewellery company was a highly influential and educational experience for her, and she took what she learned and started designing her own jewellery. In 2000, Esma Erdic's jewellery company, "Beadiful" was formed, and she sold her pieces for several years via Toronto's St. Lawrence Market and by hosting jewellery parties. In 2009, Esma started experimenting with selling on line, and she soon realized that her passion for beads was heading in the direction of supplier instead of designer. She started as a bead seller on Ebay, and Etsy followed soon after. In 2012, she discovered that her customers really loved the bags of beautiful bead mixes she started assembling, and hence, Mixed Bead Bags was officially born. It was around this time that Esma also discovered the niche sea glass market. A lover of beaches and all things natural, this was a perfect fit for her growing inventory of beady and crafty items. She researched extensively on the subject of sea glass and beach pottery, and has been successfully supplying thalassophiles around the world with her beautiful and often unique beach-found objects. In more recent times, Mixed Bead Bags inventory started to include upcycled items and mosaic pieces. Mixed Bead Bags' objective is to provide people with the supplies in which to create beautiful things. The majority of the shop's items are one-of-a-kind, adding a uniqueness and special quality to their customer's creations.
